Cons of Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis

While PGS could help create a healthy child, the procedure could also lead to disaster. Listed are some facts and examples of possible and theoretical concerns of doctors and scholars.

 

  • not exact of proven science: full tests haven't even been tried yet, and still has a long way to go

 

  • against moral beliefs: churches and people argue that this is against God and his intention/plan, who can play God?

 

  • will be an expensive procedure: lead to wealth divide, create societal differences and division

 

  • discard of children: if procedure isnt correct, wil the child still be wanted?

 

  • create a gender gap: will people prefer a gender more than the other, could lead to inbalance in society

 

  • breeding could occur: people/groups with means and money create a team/groupp with a certain powerful attribute for advantages
